  1. INTRODUCING: I.E.P.N!
  2.  
  3. IEPN is the International Electronic Postal Network.  It is a
  4. cooperative venture of various BBS systems and individual users
  5. to redefine exactly what the term "Information Superhighway" is
  6. going to mean.  We hope to eventually make Electronic Mail as
  7. simple to send and recieve as regular paper mail is now.
  8.  
  9. IEPN utilizes FTSC (FIDO-style) software technology for the
  10. transport of mail and files and for addressing of individual
  11. members.  Thus, Echo (broadcast) mail, Net (single-recipient)
  12. mail and File Echoes are supported, and compatible software is
  13. very easily obtained.
  14.  
  15. One of the chief features of IEPN that distinguishes it from
  16. other FTSC networks is that we actively encourage people who do
  17. not run BBS systems to join.  The software will work just fine
  18. even without a BBS system behind it.  This means that you can be
  19. a part of the network, with your own unique mail address, without
  20. huge expenditures of money and disk space, without adding an
  21. additional phone line, and without a lot of boring script writing
  22. and fooling around with robot terminals and QWK packets.

  24. There are already a number of echoes going in IEPN, catering to a
  25. variety of interests.  Here is a list with a brief discussion of
  26. each:

  30. Mandatory echo in which users and members may make direct contact
  31. with the administration.  Used for question answering and problem
  32. solving.  Contents of echo are scanned constantly and important
  33. or frequently asked questions are placed into FAQ files and
  34. distributed.

  111. As you may have noticed, several of these echoes have
  112. file echoes associated with them.  Persons who recieve these
  113. areas, along with the associated file echo, will recieve new
  114. files that the host may from time to time "hatch" into the echo
  115. automatically!  Then you simply examine what is there and keep
  116. what you want, deleting the rest.

  118. At present, IEPN is still in an early growth stage.  This means
  119. that there is not as much echo mail traffic as would be found in
  120. a more established net.  However, that should not prevent
  121. interested people from joining now.  The net is growing by leaps
  122. and bounds and, with a little luck, will soon achieve it's full
  123. potential.

  126. brevity I will refrain from doing it here.  Obtain the file
